WATCH: ‘Rambo Nanny’ Chases, Tackles Alleged Amazon Package Thief
A nanny from Washington state made a dramatic citizens’ arrest after she chased down and tackled a woman who allegedly stole an Amazon package, surveillance footage shows.
Surveillance video shows Kate Anderson, a nanny working for the Smith family in Everett, chasing after a woman who allegedly attempted to steal a large package off the front porch of the house and escape with it in a vehicle.
Anderson had been told to look out for a package scheduled for delivery the morning of November 29.
She did not have a chance to bring the package inside when the Amazon package arrived at the house at 10:45 a.m.
Ten minutes later, Anderson noticed the surveillance camera captured footage of a car driving up to the house. She watched as the woman exited the vehicle and headed towards the porch.
“I saw her bending and picking it up, and they get a lot of packages. And I knew. I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, she’s taking that,’ so I just took off after her, to be honest,” Anderson told KIRO.
The nanny ran outside, yelling at the woman after the suspected thief fell onto the sidewalk and failed to get into the getaway car with the package.
“Hey what the f**k are you doing?” Anderson yelled. “Hey, you piece of s**t what are you trying to steal?”
Anderson then tackled the woman before restraining her and asking for someone to call the authorities.
“I didn’t do anything!” the suspect shouts, as Anderson tries to keep her from getting away.
“Yes, you did!” Kate said. “I … saw you, you know we got security cameras on this house, don’tcha?”
The suspect tried to escape from Anderson when Anderson yelled, “I am not letting you go!”
Police arrived and arrested the woman, who they later identified as Rhieanna Schindler, 29.
Schindler had several outstanding warrants for theft and drug possession charges. She also had a rap sheet of 20 arrests since 2010.
Anderson’s employer, Tanya Smith, was so proud of what her “Rambo nanny” did that she created a GoFundMe page to reward Anderson for her heroic actions.
“Kate Anderson not only takes amazing care of my son but bravely chased down a thief who was stealing from our front porch and restrained her until the police came,” Smith wrote on the fundraiser page.
The page has collected $330 in donations as of Sunday evening.
