Alien hunters have spotted a bizarre unidentified flying ‘object’ which resembles a huge floating emoji.

But despite claims that it’s a visitor from another world, we’ve discovered that the weird sighting can be explained very easily.

Scott C Waring, who runs a blog called UFO Sightings Daily, wrote: ‘Many past UFO reports describe round sphere UFOs and it does seem to be the most common shape of UFOs around the world.

‘Also know, all of the UFOs that I have reported on this site found on Google Earth have been deleted, so count on this one being up for only a few months before Google finds it.’

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Probably not

The strange face-like thingie has been explained as a drop of water or a weather balloon. It was spotted near East Lake George in New York state

We’re afraid to report that it looks as if all this might be a rather silly mistake.

The logo looks like the icon for Google Photosphere, IFL Science pointed out, which allows people to add their own panoramic images onto Google Maps.

So it looks like someone’s put a nice photo up on the internet and people thought it was proof of alien life.
