Danny Welbeck has promised to return stronger than ever before and thanked Arsenal fans for their support after undergoing two surgeries on his broken ankle.

The 27-year-old forward landed awkwardly in the 30th minute of last weeks draw with Sporting Lisbon in the Europa League and required oxygen before being stretchered off the field at the Emirates.

Arsenal confirmed that both of Welbecks procedures went well in a positive update on Monday night and the England international has broken his silence on social media.

Welbeck is expected to be out for the remainder of the season but is ready to get to work on his recovery after returning from hospital.

Bernd Leno revealed that Unai Emery arranged a FaceTime session between Welbeck and the rest of Arsenals squad prior to Sundays draw with Wolves.

I think he was happy to talk to us because he is still a big part of our team and we will all support him when he is injured, Leno explained.

It was a very good idea because were all sorry for Danny and we wanted to win for him.

We hope hell have a good recovery and we want to see him back on the pitch because hes an important player for us in the team and in the dressing room.

I think the idea of the chat is a big quality of the manager because he does not want a team of individuals.

This meeting was very motivating for everyone to play for Danny because everybody likes him and wishes him well.
