Man dies after falling from a height at London tube station

A commuter has died at Canary Wharf station after reportedly falling from a height.

Shocked witnesses spoke of seeing a man being given CPR on the floor and said there was blood splattered everywhere in the London station.

Police have confirmed that the incident is not being treated as suspicious.

One witness stated that the man was lying on the floor with his head towards the Tube doors, as if he had fallen backwards.

It looked like he might have had a serious fall, they added.

Another said that they had seen blood pouring from the back of his head.

Air Ambulance and London Metropolitan Police officers arrived at the scene and a barrier was reportedly put up as they tended to the man.

The station was closed as a result of the incident but it has since reopened.

Police are not treating the death as suspicious (Picture: Reuters)

A spokesman for British Transport Police said: At 3pm today officers were called to Canary Wharf station after reports a person had fallen from height.

Paramedics also attended and a person was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers are now working to identify the person and inform their family.

This incident is not currently being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
