UK WEATHER forecasts for the next couple of days suggest torrential rain could be possible in some parts of the UK with thunderstorms possible, while other regions could see highs of 26C. Here are the latest Met Office weather warnings, forecasts and maps.

The Met Office has issued a weather warning for rain on Friday until 2pm for parts of northeast England. While the Met Office has not issued a weather warning for the weekend, the meteorological agency told Express.co.uk it was “keeping an eye” on the weather this weekend, with thundery downpours forecast for much of the UK.

A Met Office yellow warning for rain has been issued until 2pm on Friday, affecting cities such as Newcastle upon Tyne, Middlesbrough and Scarborough.

Much of the UK is expected to see heavy rain this weekend, but in between showers some areas could see patches of sunshine, with temperatures up to 26C possible.

Met Office spokesperson Nicola Maxey told Express.co.uk: “In general weve got lots of rain and heavy showers throughout the weekend.

“The weather warnings for the North East are in place until 2 oclock today, and there arent anymore in situ at the moment, but were certainly keeping an eye on the situation over the next few days through the weekend and into the start of next week.

“With these heavy downpours, were going to see some sporadic heavy downpours of rain.

“Some areas may see torrential rain, and a couple of miles down the road it could stay dry.

“They are those sorts of showers, theyre quite slow-moving.

“If the showers start to become stationary in one area maybe well need to issue a warning, at the moment there are no areas of particular concern, but we are keeping an eye on the situation, as things might change as we go through the weekend and into the start next week.”

On Saturday heavy thundery showers are forecast over east and northern England, with another area also seeing the same conditions in the South West.

The Met Office also warned of possible thunder and lightning over the weekend.

In between the showers on Saturday, there is a chance for some sunny spells.

While it wont be like the heatwave the UK experienced a few weeks ago, temperatures in London on Saturday will be around the mid-20s, with highs of 25C to 26C possible in some areas.

On Sunday, particularly for the east and North East, lots of low cloud, mist and fog is forecast for the start of the day.

There will also be some heavier rain in eastern and northeastern parts of the country.

Heaviest showers are likely to be in the west and the southwest.

Some regions will potentially see thunder and lightning.

Elsewhere on Sunday will also see some sunny spells and scattered showers, as Sunday is expected to be a slightly better day for much of the UK compared to Saturday.

Much of country is expected to see temperatures on Sunday in the low to mid-20s.

London is forecast to see highs of 23C to 24C.

The changeable weather pattern is expected to continue into next week.
